How to Market Your eBay Auctions

If you have been selling on eBay for a while, you may have grown content with simply letting the traffic generated by eBay find your auctions. For some people, this is fine, but if you want to create a serious online business, you need to direct traffic from other sources to your eBay auctions.

The most important reason for this is that the traffic you drive from other sources will already be “warm leads” – that is, you will have gained their interest before sending them to your auction listings – so they will be more likely to bid on your products.

Here are some ways you can drive additional traffic to your auctions:

  1. Place a link to your currently running auctions from your main website. eBay will allow you to create a sidebar that will show thumbnails of some of the products you currently have for sale.
  2. Blog about specific items you have for sale, and link to your auctions in your blog posts. Over time, you will create a readership base that will view your new listings each time you submit a blog post. This can be a great way to build repeat business.
  3. Create a link to your auctions in your discussion board signatures. If you participate in discussion boards, be sure to include your eBay link in your signatures. People who you interact with online will follow the link to see what you have for sale.

These are just a few of the ways you can effectively market your eBay auctions. So don’t just wait around for the traffic to come to you. Drive traffic to your auctions, and you will see your sales and your profits increase.
